Serial Reader is a free app that helps you consume classic literature by giving you small manageable bite-sized issues.

These issues are approximately consumed in around 20 minutes so you can chip away at large books without being overwhelmed.

The app uses books that have fallen out of copyright, making them free to read for anyone. It currently has more than 200 books in the collection and each one notes how long it will take you to read – listing the number of issues it contains.

Some of the novels included are:

Treasure Island – Robert Louis Stevenson (29 issues)
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen (40 issues)
Romeo and Juliet – William Shakespeare (15 issues)
The War of the Worlds – H.G. Wells (23 issues)
Dracula – Bram Stoker (54 issues)
War & Peace – Leo Tolstoy (235 issues)
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll (12 issues)

Don’t worry if you miss a day, the issue doesn’t go anywhere. It’ll send you the next issue the following day of completion. The app also keeps track of your reading habits by providing a percentage of how much you’ve read daily, weekly and all time.

If you become totally engrossed in a book and can’t wait until tomorrow to read the next issue, you can purchase Serial Reader Premium for £2.29.
