The Book of Thunks is a book written by Ian Gilbert to help get your pupils thinking creatively.
Ian Gilbert is one of the UKโs leading educational innovators, speakers and writers with twenty years experience, working with young people and educationalists around the world.
A thunk, for those who donโt know, is a question to get you thinking that usually has no right or wrong answer.
What colour is Monday? Can you feel colour? Can you touch the internet? All of these help get the creative juices flowing by getting you thinking.
The book contains hundreds of thunks that you can use in class to help spark discussion. Theyโre great for a starter task in the morning to wake up pupilsโ minds or as a way to introduce a topic.
We wouldnโt recommend the book being added to a primary school class library as some of the questions are not really suitable for the young ones. However, itโs definitely something that you should add to your little box of tricks so you can keep childrenโs brains thinking creatively.
