StoryLines Comix is a brilliant idea for an app and an especially good app for boys. Rather than tell a story in the form of a comic, the app focuses on specific words and how you can explain the definition using images.
Over 150,000 words are included in the app and each one includes a written definition that the user can access (by swiping on the word) if they’re unsure what it means. As there is such a large database of definitions, it’s highly likely that any word you add will be included in the app.
Once you have selected a word to illustrate, you are presented with a blank comic template where you can add speech bubbles, action words and photos. All photos are added live and have a cool pop art filter to give the scene a classic comic book effect.
The app was created by Edmodo who have a brilliant network for teachers, students and parents to communicate. Well worth checking out!
